PM Modi Revives Amaravati Project in Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth ₹58,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh on May 2, 2025. A key focus is the revival of Amaravati, the greenfield capital city project initiated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
The event included the laying of foundations for 74 projects valued at ₹49,000 crore. These projects encompass essential government infrastructure, including the Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, judicial quarters, and housing for 5,200 families.
The Amaravati project includes a comprehensive 320 km transport network featuring underground utilities and 1,281 km of roads, designed to support the new capital city.
Real estate experts are predicting a boost in investor confidence due to the project's revival. They anticipate a potential 15-20% increase in land prices within the Amaravati region.
The original Amaravati Master Plan was designed by Foster and Partners. In 2024, the estimated budget for Amaravati's developmental works was approximately ₹64,910 crore. Phase-1 of the project is slated for completion within the next three years.
