Minister Narayana Visits Amaravati, Assures Completion of Capital Construction in Three Years
Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, P. Narayana, conducted a detailed inspection of Amaravati’s ongoing infrastructure projects on January 24, 2025. During his visit, he assured that the construction of the state capital would be completed within three years, marking a significant step forward for the ambitious project.
Narayana reviewed key developments, including the raft foundation for the High Court building and water pumping arrangements near Nelapadu. He emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Amaravati into a world-class capital, designed by renowned architect Norman Foster. The Minister highlighted the rapid success of the land pooling initiative, which saw farmers voluntarily contribute 34,000 acres within 58 days in 2015.
Key projects initiated before 2019 included 4,053 apartments for officials, employees, and judges, as well as five administrative towers. Plans for a 250-meter-high Assembly building, intended to double as a tourist attraction, were also part of the original vision. However, Narayana criticized the previous government for halting construction due to political vendetta, leading to the deterioration of these projects.
The Minister announced that tenders for 40 projects have been called, with plans to finalize them by the end of January and begin construction by mid-February. He expressed confidence that Amaravati would soon reflect the aspirations of the people, with infrastructure designed to meet global standards.
