Davos 2025 | Core Capital Region of Amaravati to Be Ready in Three Years: Minister

The core capital region of Andhra Pradesh's capital city, Amaravati, is set to be completed within three years, according to Andhra's IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh. Speaking at Davos 2025, Lokesh confirmed that all tendering processes are complete, and construction will commence on February 1st.
"For the last five years, Amaravati was on pause. Thanks to the support of the Government of India, we are able to restart the entire project. Everyone is charged up and ready; all the tendering is completed, and work will start on February 1st," Lokesh told CNBC-TV18.
The revival of the Amaravati project follows the return of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to power in June 2024. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has prioritized completing the ambitious capital city project, which had been stalled since 2019 under the previous YSRCP government.
Key developments include: - Approval of tenders worth ₹11,467 crore for infrastructure projects. - Construction of 360 km of trunk roads. - Residential complexes for government officials and staff. - Release of ₹11,000 crore by HUDCO for Amaravati's development.
The Andhra Pradesh government is also leveraging Davos 2025 to attract global investments, aiming for a 15% economic growth rate and a $2.5 trillion economy by 2047.
