BITS to Establish a Prestigious Campus in Amaravati

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) is set to establish a campus in Amaravati, marking a significant milestone for the city’s development as a hub for higher education. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has proposed 35 acres of land for the campus near the Seed Access Road, close to the iconic Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
A Temple-Inspired Campus Design
BITS has specifically requested a location adjacent to the Seed Access Road due to its strategic importance and proximity to the temple. Reflecting its commitment to blending modern education with cultural heritage, the institution plans to design its campus buildings in harmony with the architectural style of the temple.
CRDA initially considered offering BITS a larger plot of 50-100 acres in Ainavolu or Neerukonda, areas that have attracted other prominent institutions like SRM, VIT, and Amrita universities. However, BITS prioritized proximity to the Seed Access Road, leading to a revised allocation of 35 acres.
Strengthening Amaravati’s Educational Ecosystem
The establishment of a BITS campus in Amaravati is expected to significantly enhance the city’s reputation as an education hub. The institution joins a growing list of universities and colleges making Amaravati their base, further bolstering the region’s appeal to students and academics.
The BITS project is seen as a major boost for the capital city, signaling a commitment to high-quality education and infrastructural development. With plans to integrate cultural aesthetics into its campus design, BITS is poised to become a landmark in Amaravati’s educational and architectural landscape.
