Andhra Pradesh Plans Sports City, Amaravati Development Progresses

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Administration Narayana announced progress on both a new sports city and the capital city of Amaravati on Monday, April 14, 2025.
The government is planning a large sports city along the Krishna River. Minister Narayana inspected Lanka lands near Ibrahimpatnam, specifically in Pedalanka and Chinalanka, within the NTR and Guntur districts, to assess their suitability. He, along with Members of the Legislative Assembly and the District Collector, walked approximately three kilometers during the inspection.
Minister Narayana stated that the government is considering establishing the sports city in the Mylavaram constituency. The Chief Minister has directed that the sports city be designed to host international sporting events. The project is expected to require around 2,000 acres of land.
A committee will be formed to evaluate the feasibility of constructing the sports city on the Krishna River’s Lanka lands. The committee will include the District Collector, officials from the Water Resources Department, and other relevant authorities. The report on the sports city is expected within a month, and the government will make decisions based on its findings.
Regarding Amaravati, Minister Narayana stated that construction is accelerating. Currently, 3,000 workers and 500 machines are involved in the development. This workforce is expected to increase to 15,000 by the end of April. The Minister affirmed that the construction of Amaravati is projected to be completed within three years.
