Andhra Pradesh Focuses on Highway Connectivity

The Andhra Pradesh government is prioritizing improved connectivity between the Rayalaseema region and Amaravati, the state's capital.

An earlier plan for the Amaravati Expressway (NH 544F) has been superseded by a focus on National Highway 544G.

NH 544G is designed to connect the Bengaluru-Hyderabad (NH 44) and Kolkata-Chennai (NH 16) highways. This route will bypass direct connectivity to Amaravati.

The NH 544G project is currently under development, encompassing 14 packages. The total cost is estimated at ₹19,320 crore for a distance of 624 km. This includes a 332 km greenfield highway.

The targeted completion date for NH 544G is December 2026.

In addition to NH 544G, the state government has proposed upgrading and extending State Highway 544D to provide a connection to Amaravati.

The original Amaravati-Anantapur Expressway project is not currently active.
