Amaravati Railway Line: Connecting Key Regions with a 57 km Track

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recently emphasized the significant infrastructure projects underway in Amaravati, the state’s new capital, and the pivotal role of the central government in supporting these developments. Speaking on the Amaravati Railway Line, Naidu outlined its importance for improving connectivity and enhancing the capital’s growth.

The Amaravati Railway Line, a major 57 km project, will connect the capital city to major cities and ports, including Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata. This railway line will feature nine stations and a 3.2 km bridge over the Krishna River, further integrating Amaravati with national transport networks. With an estimated cost of ₹2,245 crore, the project is expected to be completed within four years. Naidu shared that about 80% of the land required for the project has already been acquired, and the transfer of land to the railways will occur once the final alignment is confirmed.

Naidu expressed his appreciation for the central government’s swift action in sanctioning the project. He particularly thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the quick cabinet approvals, which have been instrumental in moving the project forward. "The development of this railway line will transform Amaravati into a well-connected city, attracting investment and making it more accessible for residents and businesses alike," Naidu said.

In addition to the railway line, Naidu pointed out the environmental benefits of the Amaravati development projects. “This one project will reduce CO2 emissions by nearly 6 crore kilograms, which is the equivalent of planting 25 lakh trees,” he noted, highlighting the city’s focus on sustainable growth.

Naidu also touched upon the broader scope of ongoing projects in Amaravati, reflecting on the capital’s progress. He stated that nearly ₹70,000 crore worth of development projects are currently underway in the state, all contributing to the modernization and growth of Amaravati. The Chief Minister urged continued collaboration with the central government to ensure the timely completion of these projects, particularly the Amaravati Railway Line, which he believes will be a key driver of the city’s success.

As part of the ongoing efforts, Naidu announced plans to invite Prime Minister Modi to lay the foundation stone for upcoming projects in Amaravati, with the ceremony planned for November or December.

In conclusion, Naidu reiterated his gratitude for the central government’s support in the development of Amaravati. He thanked Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for his leadership and quick action in facilitating approvals. “With the continued backing of the central government, Amaravati will become a model for sustainable urban development,” Naidu said, reaffirming his commitment to turning Amaravati into a world-class city.
