Amaravati Outer Ring Road Alignment Approved by NHAI, Vijayawada East Bypass Deemed Unnecessary

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially approved the alignment for the Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR), marking a significant milestone in Andhra Pradesh's infrastructure development. The 189.4-kilometer-long ORR will serve as a six-lane access-controlled expressway, encircling the state's new capital city, Amaravati.
In a notable decision, the proposed Vijayawada East bypass has been deemed unnecessary. The NHAI committee concluded that the ORR runs parallel to the bypass, making the latter redundant. This decision is expected to save significant investment costs, as the ORR will effectively serve the same purpose.
Instead of the bypass, the committee has recommended the construction of an 18-kilometer link road to connect the ORR, ensuring seamless connectivity for commuters. This strategic move is expected to enhance transportation efficiency and reduce traffic congestion in the region.
The Amaravati ORR project is part of the state government's broader vision to develop Amaravati as a world-class capital city. With the alignment now approved, construction is expected to commence soon, bringing Andhra Pradesh one step closer to realizing its infrastructure goals.
