Amaravati Infrastructure Development Underway

Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, is undergoing large-scale infrastructure development as part of 38 packages, according to the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP CRDA). The initiative aims to build a modern, smart capital city.

The first three packages are dedicated to flood control. The remaining packages focus on core urban infrastructure, including smart roads, utility networks, and green spaces.

Tenders have been finalized for 14 road work packages, and construction has commenced. These roads will be widened to six-lane avenues and will feature Smart Trunk Infrastructure. This includes dedicated cycling and walking tracks, avenue plantations, drinking water and irrigation pipelines, underground sewerage networks, utility ducts, electricity supply, ICT networks, reused water pipelines, and modern street furniture.

Key road work packages currently in progress include Package 4 (₹522.39 crore), Package 5 (₹98.17 crore), Package 6 (₹482.12 crore, N-15 Road), Package 7 (₹452.96 crore, E-6 Road), Package 8 (₹522.92 crore, E-8 Road), Package 9 (₹419.85 crore, N-11 Road), Package 10 (₹490.87 crore, E-9 Road), Package 11 (₹350.07 crore, E-14 Road), Package 12 (₹614.56 crore, N-12 Road), Package 13 (₹232.86 crore, N-6 Road), and Package 14 (₹807.75 crore, E-5 Road).

The State government is also investing in greenery, earmarking ₹175 crore for avenue plantation along 35 roads (₹5 crore per road) and ₹25 crore for developing public parks across the capital.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana stated that the APCRDA will complete the trunk roads in one and a half years and Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) layout infrastructure in two and a half years. These developments aim to make Amaravati a smart, sustainable, and future-ready capital city.
