Amaravati-Hyderabad Expressway Approved

The central government has approved the Amaravati-Hyderabad Expressway, a 220-km Greenfield project estimated to cost Rs 25,000 crore.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has proposed extending the expressway to the Machilipatnam port, enhancing its potential impact.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has agreed to the proposal, signaling a collaborative approach to improve connectivity.

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently under preparation, following instructions issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on April 9, 2025.

The decision to proceed with the DPR followed a government meeting held on February 3, 2025, which focused on the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014.
